a project of “Netzwerk Spiel/Kultur Prenzlauer Berg e.V.”
The adventure playground was founded in 1990. The play house was built in 1999.
Between 30 and 100 boys and girls at the age of 6 to 16 years visit the playground each day.
Here at the playground the children have the opportunity to build their own huts, make fire, work in the garden, watch and work with animals or just play. There are different projects in which the children can develop their creativity. They also learn about the work with different materials and tools, for this purpose the playground provides a pottery, a workshop for wood and felt, a smith and a rehearsal room to play music.
The adventure playground covers about 4,000 qm. Four pedagogues and several craftsmen work here. The district of Berlin-Pankow finances the personnel costs and one part of the material expenses. Visiting the adventure playground is free of charge except for special offers such as excursions, overnight stays etc.
The opening hours are from Monday to Saturday 1 pm to 6 pm. In the mornings the adventure playground can be used by schools and kindergarten groups. There is also an after-school care club for 20 children within the adventure playground. At nights the house is used for cultural and political activities.
